Well, I've known for a long time that the society in which I live is an utter narcissistic hot mess, but I am astounded to learn that the rabbit hole of the lunacy of our ruling classes goes this abysmally deep. If it will prevent any potential nuclear warheads from being detonated, then I sincerely hope the USA collapses soon and completely so that this threat our narcissistic irresponsibility poses to the rest of humanity and to the biosphere is brought to an end. And it hurts a lot to say that because pretty much everybody I care to any extent lives in the continental USA.

I liked Martenson's reaction when Dmitry said he and his family were moving back to Russia. Very good interview.

Excellent commentary, Dmitry. A beacon in the fog. Many thanks.

Excellent analysis Dmitry. With no true existential enemies left to fight, the DC echo chamber has finally turned suicidal. Nuclear weapons development and refurbishment is a growth industry once again, so no one should have any doubt about US intent to use them. Looks like Fukuyama's The End of History and the Last Man will turn out to be prophetic after all!

While I agree with most of the points made in this interview, the optimist in me would like to think the reality of the situation is not quite as dire as what Mr. Orlov presents. Yes, the upper echelon of US government is comprised of opportunists, corporate shills, and the odd sociopath. Yes, current US foreign policy seems to be almost entirely dictated by military industrial, and other corporate interests. Yes, militarily the Russians seem to have the upper hand in terms of missile technology, and electronic warfare (our military's total reliance on the GPS system is their Achilles heel). At the same time, I would like to think there are still good people in the military and even the State Department that have and will continue to push back against this idea that war with Russia and/or China will be good for business. Thanks.

A limited nuclear exchange is a remote possibility compared to an all-out exchange. The book Command And Control (see publisher's link below) makes it clear that the fear and paranoia associated with nuclear weapons has not diminished over the decades; and nor has the hair-brained and hair-triggered command and control structures for these weapons.

The interview cites statistics concerning the Bernie standings in the presidential race. I'm curious to see what numbers he's talking about.
