Back by popular demand
I previously thought to curtail my blogging activities, prompted, among other things, by my wife's observation that I "never get a break." But then I got a flurry of emails from my readers asking me to continue. How many readers do I have? Well, I looked at the Google Analytics report and was shocked to discover that there are almost a hundred thousand of you out there! (95,508 to be exact). I can't bring myself to disappoint that many people, and so the normal sporadic posting will continue.

Thank you for not abandoning us. Your earlier post (That Bastion of American Socialism) is a real keeper in the Orlovian high style.
Thanks
Good to hear from you.
'Is the US a country or a country club?' :) Please, it hurts when I laugh.
I was turned onto by Bruce Sterling's talk at well.com; I immediately subscribed and really enjoy your writing.
Yeah! Do you have any thoughts on how $40 oil affects Russia? I am sure you have some valuable insights into this development.
Thanks (from France).
Mr. Orlov -- Our country needs your voice, even if you are a KGB agent and a half-brother to Vladimir Putin. We like you. Don't shut up.
Thank you for continuing on. I have given your book to some of my friends, they are frightened. The elderly have lost their sence of security with the loss of portions of their retirement. We don't make changes easily but when I get anxious I pull out your book and it has a very calming effect. It is a road map for changes that I know I can make. It helps them in the same way.
Gratefully yours, Rose
Glad you're staying. I'm one of those 95,000 readers even though I never comment and visit only sporadically.
Seriously though, 95k readers! That's amazing. What a weight on your shoulders that must be, albeit a good one. I bet even your wife was impressed.
No, you must not disappoint us.
Yay! Thank you for your efforts.
Great blog, read quite a few articles. You're a man ahead of the curve.
Keep blogging and teaching us!
What a relief! I LOVED your book, and promoted it in several blog posts. Thanks.
Don't you dare stop writing (sorry to your wife, though) - genius is not cheap, and I'm not doing without you.

Welcome back Dmitri.
The magical hypno-box was on this morning while I was getting ready for work.
It got my attention because on a mainstream channel, am 'Expert' (no idea who he was), was saying that we are entering a depression, that things are going to keep getting worse, that Obama can't fix this by doing the same things that got us into this mess.
I was flabbergasted. I remarked to my wife, that when the mainstream media starts allowing talk like this on a prime time slot, that things are much worse than we know.
She chided me for being so negative and ruining her morning. All I could say was, "Every silver lining has it's cloud."
The Baltic Dry Index is recovering a bit. But we still haven't been hit by the effects of it's crash. There's a tsunami coming. It just isn't close enough, to see it yet.
Weaseldog-
Funny you should mention that. I was on the radio earlier this morning, for 40 minutes, saying this exact thing. But I was on KLIX-AM in Twin Falls, Idaho, and you are in Texas. Yes, you know things are getting bad when people like me get to talk on the radio!
Hello, thanks for the "yes" decision. "Keep walking" pls :-) , an anonymous reader from The Czech Republicreval
Hurray! I'm a regular and have been for a while. Good to see you back.
Dmitriy,
How many of the 95K are from outside of the US, and how many are from the formar USSR? I myself am from Kazakhstan (Borat's neighbour :)
Dmitri
If you stop wont get any better, only worse.
Thanks for writing
I raised about the 4 stages (of the five) to some friends during a conversation and they looked at me as if I was some kind of genius.
Of Course, I did not tell them where I got it from... hehe :)
mr Orlov
how possible is to see your scenario for US all over the world?
i am from greece and what is happening here and the rest of europe is similar to what happened in US during September, so by March-April we ll have the unemployment rate raising etc.
what's your opinion?

I try to go by firsthand observations as much as possible. I've learned about the Russian collapse by positioning myself in the middle of it. I am doing the same thing with the US collapse. Since I have never been to Greece, I can't tell you anything specific about it.
Dmitri:
Poor it on! Now more than ever!
I admire your work, Dmitri, and welcome your decision to resume posting!
My day is always a little better when I see you've posted an article. Keep up the good work.

Dmitry;
Thanks for your continued efforts they are appreciated here in the Fraser Valley
I also am glad you will continue to write. They are quite valuable and I refer practally everyone i know to the "collapse gap" lecture.
Dmitry, please continue.
I'm an Aussie and regularly post links to your essays on a traders' blog that gets 50K or more hits daily.
You're needed!
I wonder what you recommend for Lebanon, a country that will be free to re0invent itself and its economy, if the opposition (the patriotic movement) defeat the sectarian warlords supported by the US in the upcoming elections. Some of Lebanese are aiming for a green industrial revolution, whether the world's economy collapses or not. Do you think we have to be dragged down by the collapse, even if we've pretty much already hit rick bottom.
